Investment Thesis

Born and raised in Kansas City, co-founders, partners, and brothers, Ryan & Terry Anderson, started investing in real estate with a loan in college and have since led Platform Ventures to become a growing real estate investment firm with over $1.4B assets under management. Platform Ventures identifies and enriches compelling, value-oriented real estate assets, real estate operating companies, and real estate technologies.

Before TermSheet

Platform Ventures managed its investment pipeline in an Excel file. One analyst was responsible for updating this file and the investment team needed to email details summaries of the potential transactions prior to the weekly pipeline meetings and could not be accessed outside the company VPN.

Its use was very singular and not very dynamic.

"TermSheet was an easy decision because it relieves us from the inflexibility of Excel. We operate in dynamic markets and need dynamic tools to compete."

“TermSheet was an easy decision because it relieves us from the inflexibility of Excel,” said Chief Investment Officer Todd Blanding. The team can now access and update its pipeline via any internet connection and through the mobile app. Anyone on the investment team can share data, photos, files and commentary with the team or selected external partners.

The team can pull in specific local datasets to help complement their analysis. They are able to easily track the progress and key dates of the transactions as well as how current pipeline transactions compare to investment opportunities located nearby that have been evaluated in the past — all without having to remember where the old deal files were saved.

“We operate in dynamic markets and need dynamic tools to compete.”
